We recently did a quick project for local freelance writer, Jon Miller. Miller came to us with the project he had designed, asking for Love Local Design to do the development. Although we usually prefer to design the sites we work on, it was a clean and simple design, making it a pleasure to build.

I love living in East Rock! A young woman on a fat tired bikes making her way down Orange St, a Yalie snowboarding down the parking garage on Whitney and Lulu’s open for business!!

2012 was an incredible year. Love Local Design unexpectedly went from my side project to my full-time gig - which turned out to be a dream come true. Through Love Local I get to work one-on-one with clients, take on new challenges, meet new people and become more involved with the New Haven community. It has been my most rewarding career path.

In 2012, I finished my masters degree at The New School in NYC (another dream come true) and I was able to teach my first college-level course at NWCC in Winsted, CT. I learned I love teaching just as much as I love designing. Also in 2012, I was named a ‘Rising Star’ by New Haven Business Magazine.

In 2013, I will take all the lessons I’ve learned and move forward with Love Local Design. Expect a new website and blog, some side projects, more products coming to the store and a few web design workshops in the New Haven area. Also, a huge thank you to all of my wonderful clients & supportive friends. I literally could not do this without you! Wishing you all the very best in 2013!

Love Local Design is proud to announce the launch of 360Alumni.com. We’ve been working with 360 Alumni since July 2012, but a lot of the work has been designing and doing UX development of the 360 Alumni platform. Finally we get to show off some of the work we’ve done for this terrific startup. Expect more for 360 Alumni in 2013!

A percentage of the profits will go to charities in the New Haven area. For example, with the “Love Local Farms” shirt, a percentage of the profits will go to New Haven’s City Seed program. Their missions is to “engage the community in growing an equitable, local food system that promotes economic development, community development and sustainable agriculture”.
